On June 25, actress Moon Geun-young took to Instagram to share a heartfelt message and a belated photo of her holding the trophy she received at the 23rd Director’s Cut Awards, held on June 20.
Moon Geun-young, who won Best New Actress for her impactful role in Netflix’s Hellbound 2, expressed deep gratitude for the opportunity that reignited her passion for acting. “At some point, I started feeling that I was becoming clichéd. My face and acting felt predictable and stale,” she wrote candidly. “I sincerely thank director Yeon Sang-ho for helping me find a new face.”

She continued, “I believe my potential is limitless. I hope more people will believe in me too. I promise to repay that faith by becoming an actor who performs with passion and joy.”
Despite appearing in a special role, Moon Geun-young made a lasting impression as the fanatical character ‘Teacher Sunshine’ in Hellbound 2, showcasing a bold transformation that was praised by audiences and critics alike.

The Director’s Cut Awards is hosted by the Directors Guild of Korea (DGK), where winners are selected by Korean film directors themselves—making Moon Geun-young’s recognition especially meaningful.
