On June 2, Brazil’s largest private broadcaster, SBT, will air My Love from the Star. This marks the drama’s entry into South America 11 years after its 2013 domestic broadcast, showcasing its global influence.

SBT cited the show’s widespread global appeal as the reason behind its selection, stating, “The drama has achieved international popularity and commercial success across multiple countries. With its unique blend of romance, drama, sci-fi, and humor — along with a captivating script and stellar performances — it resonates with fans of all ages.”

The network added, “The airing of My Love from the Star on SBT reflects how K-dramas are no longer niche content, but now a key part of mainstream programming. We’re actively following social media and streaming trends to cater to the open TV audience.”

SBT has also introduced a new programming block titled “Asian Production Line,” designed specifically for Asian content. My Love from the Star is the first drama to launch this initiative — a sign of the explosive demand for Korean pop culture in Brazil.

Following this announcement, Kim Soo-hyun’s fandom has flooded SBT’s official website and online platforms with messages of welcome. Fans have also taken to creating promotional content, showing enthusiastic support.

In addition to Brazil, Taiwan’s K-pop-focused channel, Korea Entertainment TV, recently decided to re-air My Love from the Star, further generating buzz.

Recently, Kim Soo-hyun has been at the center of controversy due to allegations of dating the late Kim Sae-ron during their minor years. Initially denying the relationship, Kim Soo-hyun later partially admitted, “We dated after becoming adults.” At a press conference, he explained his initial denial, saying, “I made a choice as the star Kim Soo-hyun.” This controversy led to lawsuits demanding the return of 5.8 billion KRW in modeling fees and damages.
