“Na In-woo, 190cm, Vision 2.0, Exempt from Military Service… The Military Manpower Administration Must Explain”

On December 17, a netizen submitted a civil complaint stating, “I request a clear explanation from the Military Manpower Administration regarding actor Na In-woo’s classification as a Level 4 supplementary service member.” The complainant pointed out, “There have been countless discussions on online communities questioning why Na In-woo, born in 1994, has not enlisted yet. Typically, active-duty soldiers enlist before their 30th birthday, or at the latest before they turn 31. Na In-woo’s case, being this delayed, is exceptionally unusual, naturally raising suspicions.”
The complaint continued, “The revelation of Na In-woo’s military exemption has only amplified public doubts. He stands about 190cm tall with a robust physique and vision close to 2.0. On the variety show ‘2 Days & 1 Night’ Season 4, he was seen diving into seawater without hesitation, which suggests no apparent health issues. Despite reportedly waiting three years for his assignment as a public service worker after receiving a Level 4 classification, from 2021 to 2024, he filmed eight dramas while also participating in variety shows. If his exemption was due to being a descendant of a national merit awardee or other valid reasons, such information would likely have been disclosed to the public, but this doesn’t appear to be the case. Furthermore, there are no apparent educational shortcomings.”

Na In-woo was recently exempted from military service after waiting for his public service worker assignment. His agency Hanada Company stated, “After receiving a Level 4 supplementary service classification in his physical examination, he awaited enlistment but did not receive a summons from the Military Manpower Administration within three years, making him eligible for exemption.” However, the agency refrained from commenting on the specific reasons behind his Level 4 classification.

Na In-woo stepped down from KBS 2TV’s variety show “2 Days & 1 Night” Season 4 in June. He is set to return with MBC TV’s Friday-Saturday drama “Motel California”, premiering on January 10 at 10 PM. “Motel California” is a first love remodeling romance drama set in a rural area about a woman who was born and raised in a motel and reunites with her first love in her hometown she ran away from 12 years ago. Na In-woo will star alongside actress Lee Se-young.
