“Nam Tae-hyun’s Drug Accomplice” Seo Min-jae Confesses About Being ‘Dating Violence’ Victim
On June 16th, Seo Min-jae made a post titled “My dating violence experience” on her personal SNS account.
She recalled her past experience, saying “I used to love this person”, adding “He was a person who made me happy just by his existence. However, I found out that violence can exist even in such a relationship”.
Revealing that she was contacted by a drunk person one day, Seo Min-jae explained the situation at that time, saying “He texted me claiming that I had ruined his life by exposing our bad secrets on SNS and that he would never let my family and I could never keep our heads up again”.
She continued, “I received a picture from that person. It was a very private photo that he said he had already deleted. My heart sank”, adding “He replied to him pretending that I was scared. With trembling hands, I replied to him, saying ‘You don’t have to send it to me’. He said, ‘Then I’ll send it somewhere else’”.
Seo Min-jae conveyed her miserable feelings, saying “A close friend of his also faced a similar situation and she ended up choosing to a painful end due to hateful comments. That person even wrote a song to pay tribute to the friend. I thought this person, who was a friend of that girl, would never do such a thing”.
She continued, “Since I was the one who revealed our drug use on social media, I believed that he would definitely resent me. So I wrote an agreement promising to not file a civil or criminal complaint based on these text messages, hoping that he would resent me less”, adding “People can keep blaming each other. I’m trying to slowly let go of the resentment I have towards others and myself. I hope that person does the same.”
Lastly, Seo Min-jae said, “I want to speak to those who are not able to gather their courage. This can happen to anyone, but I hope it doesn’t happen to anyone else. It’s obviously an act of violence. I hope you guys can also escape it. If you’re experiencing dating violence, ask for help”.
Earlier in August 2022, Seo Min-jae released a post on her SNS revealing that she took methamphetamine together with Nam Tae-hyun. Later, Seo Min-jae and Nam Tae-hyun were investigated by the police and ended up being punished by the court. Seo Min-jae received a sentence of 10 months in prison and 2 years of probation for violating the Narcotics Control Act in January this year. Seo Min-jae and Nam Tae-hyun used to be in a romantic relationship but they had already broken up.
