Nana Keeps Meaningful ‘1968’ Tattoo After Full-Body Ink Removal: “It’s for My Mom”

On June 17, Nana appeared at the press conference for her upcoming film Omniscient Reader: The Prophet at Lotte Cinema Konkuk University in Seoul. While her appearance was more understated than previous years, one small detail stood out: a tattoo reading “1968” on her ankle.

Back in 2022, Nana made headlines with a striking full-body tattoo look during promotions for the film Confession. However, by 2023, she had begun the process of removing all the ink.
Appearing on YouTube’s Jo Hyunah’s Thursday Night, Nana opened up about her decision, sharing that her mother’s simple request moved her deeply: “My mother told me she wanted to see my clean body again. That one sentence was enough to make me decide to erase them.”
She further explained that the tattoos were a form of emotional expression during a particularly difficult time in her life: “Getting tattoos was the only way I could deal with my feelings at the time.”
But one tattoo remained,”1968.” “That’s the year my mother was born,” Nana said. “It’s the most meaningful one.”

At the press conference, although faint traces of her old tattoos were still visible, Nana’s elegant presence and candid revelation resonated with fans, many of whom praised her maturity and emotional transparency.
Nana will return to the big screen this July in Omniscient Reader: The Prophet and is also currently filming two other projects: Climax and Scandal.
