Nana Attacked on SNS after Slamming THE BOYZ’s Sunwoo: Shocked by Hate Comments, Expressing Feelings
Nana’s Reaction to Hate Comments
On April 13, through the fan communication platform Bubble, idol-actress Nana sent a long message regarding the recent incident of her criticizing Sunwoo, a member of boy group THE BOYZ. In particular, Nana wrote, “I was surprised to see all the hate comments and demands for an apology on my Instagram. I didn’t write that comment to stir up news articles, but now that this has blown up into something bigger, I do feel a bit uneasy.”

“It’s wrong to judge someone based solely on a short video, but let me explain. I didn’t label or make assumptions about that person. However, his behavior came across as extremely rude to me, and the video was quite shocking”, she added.
The idol-actress continued, “So I judged that specific behavior and felt it was inappropriate. That’s why I wrote ‘You need to be scolded’—I was just expressing my personal reaction to the act. He shouted ‘My AirPods!’ loudly enough for everyone to hear when they dropped. He stared at them, just a few steps away, and didn’t move an inch. Who was he expecting to pick them up? Was he unable to move? Was it because the person near him might be older, or because they were a security guard? Does being a celebrity mean others must act as your hands and feet? Was he expecting the AirPods to walk back to him on their own? I certainly didn’t see the situation that way. But I could be wrong—it’s entirely possible to misinterpret someone depending on the situation.”

Finally, she concluded, “That’s why I rewatched the video over and over again. I don’t even know who he is. But if someone like that were standing next to me, I would’ve said the exact same thing: ‘You need to be scolded.’ And I might have added, ‘Where did you learn to act like that?’ ^^”
Previously Slamming THE BOYZ’s Sunwoo
Recently, a video titled “Idol yells and makes bodyguard rush” was uploaded to an online community.
The video showed THE BOYZ‘s Sunwoo dropping his AirPods while hurrying toward an elevator after finishing a schedule. As he stepped into the elevator, he shouted “My AirPods!”, prompting a bodyguard to immediately retrieve them and hand them over. Sunwoo then took them with one hand without offering thanks, sparking heated debate.
Comments criticizing his behavior included, “He just takes them without even saying thank you” and “He treats the bodyguard like a servant.” Amid the backlash, Nana left a brief but cutting comment, “He needs to be scolded”, drawing significant attention.

In response, some fans of Sunwoo flooded Nana’s social media with reprimanding comments. These ranged from “Did you post that without verifying the facts?” and “Did you think this was your private account?” to outright vulgar insults.
One particularly lengthy comment from a netizen read, “It’s really disappointing and thoughtless to judge someone based on a few seconds of footage and then post that kind of comment as a public figure. You’re a senior in the industry, aren’t you? You of all people should know how painful things like this can be. Don’t go around leaving careless comments.” To that, Nana firmly responded, “You can tell everything from one thing.”

Reactions from the public have been mixed. Some praised Nana’s boldness, calling it “refreshing”, while others questioned, “Did it really need to be public?” and “He already explained himself—why comment again?” There are also divided opinions on whether fans crossed the line by leaving excessive hate comments in defense of their idol.
Meanwhile, as the controversy grew, Sunwoo issued an apology, “I didn’t bow my head when I received the AirPods, but I did say ‘thank you’. I can’t explain every little thing forever, but I’ll reflect on what seemed like my mistake. To avoid misunderstandings, I’ll make sure to bow when expressing gratitude moving forward.”
