Recently, NCT’s Yuta came under fire for allegedly making a “fat-shaming” comment towards his fellow member, Haechan.
In particular, during a content where NCT members re-watched a “Fire Truck” stage of NCT 127, Yuta recalled the practicing process for the stage between himself and Haechan.
“There was a part where Haechan was lifted up, so I always told him not to eat. We had practiced to the point where I could tell Haechan’s change in weight if he ate food. There, if he ate, I’d get really annoyed”, the male idol said, basically complaining about Haechan’s weight at the time and telling his fellow member not to eat.
A video showing Yuta’s comment has since been published on the SNS platform X (formerly Twitter), garnering over 20,000 retweets and 10 million views.
In the retweets, it can be seen that netizens are greatly angered by Yuta’s comment, accusing him of basically “fat-shaming” Haechan and pointing out that Haechan made an awkward expression right after”.
“Really don’t want to be that person nor speak on heachan’s behalf but this isn’t okay, he was a MINOR and i know South Korea has very strict standards but you as a teammate, and someone hc himself cares about, shouldn’t really be going around proudly telling how you bodyshamed him”, and fan said, while another lamented, “I seriously need NCT to stop talking about weight”.
