Netflix Unveils 2025 Lineup Following Massive Hits “This Year Is Definitely the Best”

On the morning of February 4, Netflix hosted the “Next on Netflix 2025 Korea” event at Fairmont Ambassador Hotel in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul. Attendees included Kang Dong-han, Netflix’s Vice President of Korean Content, Kim Tae-won, Director of Netflix’s Film Division, Yoo Ki-hwan, Director of Netflix’s Non-Fiction Division, and Bae Jong-byeong, Senior Director of Netflix’s Series Division.

Netflix’s highly anticipated projects will be rolling out continuously throughout 2025. Following the record-breaking success of “Squid Game” Season 2, which set a new all-time high for first-week viewership, “Squid Game” Season 3 is set for release in June 2025. Other major global hits are also on the way, including the final season of “Stranger Things” and the highly awaited second season of “Wednesday”, which received widespread acclaim from critics and viewers worldwide.

VP Kang Dong-han emphasized the strength of Netflix’s lineup, “This year, Netflix has carefully selected a lineup that caters to both unique tastes and universally beloved masterpieces. The entertainment we provide will continue beyond the screen. I’ve been with Netflix for seven years, and this is by far the best lineup we’ve ever had.”

Next on Netflix 2025 Korea

Kim Tae-won, Director of Netflix’s Film Division, highlighted their commitment to variety and entertainment, “We’ve prepared seven Korean films this year, focusing on diversity and fun. We hope these seven films will become defining works of Netflix’s Korean film portfolio. Please look forward to them.

Notable film releases include: Q1: Revelations (collaboration between directors Alfonso Cuarón and Yeon Sang-ho); Q2: Lost in Starlight (Netflix’s first-ever Korean animated film); Q3: Wall to Wall (a thriller about noise disputes in apartment buildings), Love Untangled (youth romance), Mantis (a spinoff of Kill Bok Soon); Q4: Good News (an airplane landing operation film), The Great Flood (a sci-fi disaster movie).

Next on Netflix 2025 Korea

Netflix is also bringing a well-rounded mix of variety shows that blend humor, emotion, originality and mass appeal. Yoo Ki-hwan, Director of Netflix’s Non-Fiction Division, shared, “We carefully curated the lineup for a balanced mix. We have lighthearted daily variety shows as well as big-scale originals that could become the next major trend.

Some of the most anticipated variety programs include: Single’s Inferno 4; Better Late Than Single (a new dating reality show); Kian’s Bizarre B&B (featuring Kian84, Jin, Ji Ye-eun); Crime Scene Zero (legendary mystery variety); The Devil’s Plan Season 2 (a mind-game survival show); Physical: Asia (an expanded version of “Physical: 100” featuring international competitors); Culinary Class Wars Season 2.

A major highlight is the inclusion of boxing legend Manny Pacquiao, who will represent the Philippines in “Physical: Asia”. Additionally, renowned PD Na Young-seok is set to collaborate with Netflix for the first time, with his project debuting in Q4 2025.

Netflix will also release a sequel to the controversial documentary “In the Name of God”. It will cover the final chapter of the JMS cult scandal and other tragic events in modern Korean history, amplifying the voices of survivors.

Next on Netflix 2025 Korea

Bae Jong-byeong, Senior Director of Netflix’s Series Division, highlighted the diversity of genres and stories, “We’ve prepared a full-course feast, allowing viewers to choose based on their preferences in both genre and narrative.” Upcoming dramas include: Genie, Make a Wish (written by The Glory’s Kim Eun-sook, starring Kim Woo-bin & Suzy); Melo Movie (a story of youth balancing work and love); Mercy for None (a hard-boiled noir action drama); The Price of Confession (a mystery thriller); Love in Translation (a romance between a multilingual interpreter and a global superstar).

Other notable releases include: When Life Gives You Tangerines (starring IU and Park Bo-gum); Karma (a drama following six individuals bound by a cruel fate); Cashero (a working-class superhero story); Trigger (a gun-action disaster thriller); Hong Rang (a mystery melo historical drama); Two Women (a lifelong friendship drama).

VP Kang Dong-han concluded the event by emphasizing the excitement for Netflix’s 2025 lineup, “We are always nervous because our work is judged by the audience. I’m grateful that we’ve had a strong start this year. There are still so many great projects ahead, so I can’t wait for what’s to come.”
