Court Rejects NewJeans’ Appeal to Resume Solo Activities as Group Marks 1000 Days Since Debut

On their 1000th day since debut, NewJeans face legal setbacks as the court upholds ADOR’s injunction, banning independent promotions.

On April 16, the Seoul Central District Court’s Civil Agreement Division 50, led by Judge Kim Sang-hoon, officially dismissed an objection filed by all five members of NewJeans.

The objection challenged the March 21 ruling that granted agency ADOR’s request to maintain management rights over the group and prohibit the members from engaging in independent contracts or activities.

The injunction, originally granted to ADOR, legally prevents the members from pursuing solo promotions or signing individual deals outside the agency. This ruling was triggered after the group announced in November 2024 that they were terminating their exclusive contract, citing “a failure to fulfill obligations” by the agency. ADOR countered by suing for contract validity, arguing that a loss of trust is not a lawful basis for termination.

Following the emergency announcement, the members began organizing under the name “NJZ”, prompting ADOR to take swift legal action. Despite a hearing on April 9, which lasted just ten minutes, the court upheld the original injunction, ruling that the contract termination lacked sufficient legal foundation.

NewJeans Thank Fans on Their 1000-Day Milestone

Despite the court’s ruling, April 16 also marked a deeply emotional moment for NewJeans and their fans. The group quietly celebrated their 1000th day since debut, posting a heartfelt message on their shared Instagram account, @mhdhh_friends.

Alongside a photo of a sunflower, they wrote:
“Bunnies~! It’s been 1000 days since we met! These 1000 days with Bunnies have been pure happiness! Every day we spend together is another adventure. Love you x1000.”

The post, though brief, resonated powerfully with fans amid the uncertainty surrounding the group’s future. Known affectionately as “Bunnies,” NewJeans’ fandom has remained loyal through the group’s rise to fame and current legal turbulence.

For now, NewJeans remains in limbo, unable to act outside of ADOR, but still holding on to their bond with fans and the promise of future music, once their legal path becomes clear.
