Online forums are buzzing with concern after a May 30 court ruling involving NewJeans and their agency ADOR came to light, sparking speculation over the girl group’s future in the entertainment industry.

A post titled “Does this mean we can’t see NewJeans promote anymore?” recently surfaced on the popular Korean platform Pann, featuring a screenshot of the court’s injunction decision. The ruling, connected to case number 2024가합113399, explicitly prohibits the members of NewJeans from engaging in any independent entertainment activities without prior approval from the plaintiff, ADOR.

The restriction applies to all forms of entertainment work, including personal projects or promotions conducted through legal representatives or third parties. This injunction remains valid until the main lawsuit over the group’s exclusive contract is fully resolved.

Perhaps most alarming to fans is the severe financial penalty outlined in the court’s decision, ₩1 billion KRW (approx. $726,000 USD) per member, per violation.

As the ruling circulates on social media and online communities, netizens are voicing increasing concern that this legal deadlock could signal a halt, or even an end, to NewJeans’ promotional activities.

Comments on Pann:

  1. Honestly, that’s true… They acted like the contract and everything was beneath them and just demanded the producer they preferred. Do you think the judge would look kindly on that?
  2. This is justice served. If they have any conscience, they should at least apologize to their fellow groups and company staff.
  3. It’s unfortunate, but at least it’s not 400 billion won (Bang Si-hyuk’s case), so that’s a relief.
  4. Wow, 1 billion won… it’s a loss to keep being active. They said they would leave to avoid payment, but now it’s being forcibly collected by law. If they want to come back (which I hope they don’t), they should personally go to HYBE idols, especially ILLIT and the managers, and apologize sincerely.
  5. Even if they’re minors, if their legal guardians signed the contract, it must be followed. What’s this nonsense… How much did they underestimate the law to think they could push through their double standards as evidence? Honestly, the responsibility lies with: 1. Min Hee-jin who gaslighted them, 2. The law firm that encouraged them, 3. Themselves for whining. GG.
NewJeans’ Emotional Court Statements

While ADOR has gained a temporary legal upper hand, fans fear that the ongoing litigation could paralyze the group’s career during one of the most critical moments of their rising global fame.
