In a shocking revelation, a male sasaeng fan in his 20s has been indicted for unlawfully entering the former dorm of NewJeans, stealing items on multiple occasions. According to the Seoul Western District Prosecutors’ Office, the man, referred to as A, was charged without detention on April 25 for trespassing and theft.
Investigations revealed that A broke into the group’s old residence in Yongsan-gu, Seoul on December 21, 2023, stealing hangers, banners, and other items left behind. However, this was not the only incident, as A had reportedly trespassed on December 18 as well and returned again later, exploiting an unlocked door.

What’s particularly disturbing is that NewJeans had already vacated the dorm in November 2023 after terminating their contract with ADOR. Although the building was unoccupied, the breach raises serious concerns about privacy and idol safety.
This incident has drawn eerie parallels to an earlier “terror threat” post made in August 2023 on an online forum. The anonymous post claimed to have “pinpointed NewJeans’ dorm” and threatened further action. Authorities haven’t confirmed any link between the poster and A, but the timing has left fans shaken.

Meanwhile, the timing of this crime following the publicized contract dispute between NewJeans and ADOR has only intensified fan anxieties. The group had attempted a rebrand under the name NJZ, but ADOR’s legal actions halted their solo pursuits.
In particular, the court sided with ADOR in a lawsuit to confirm the validity of their exclusive contract with NewJeans and an injunction to prohibit the members from signing independent advertising contracts, resulting in the members announcing a temporary hiatus from independent activities.
