NewJeans’ latest track, “Pit Stop,” has set the internet ablaze following its debut at their recent performance in Hong Kong. With the group exclusively performing solo covers and fresh tracks—completely omitting any songs from their ADOR era fans were left with a mix of excitement, confusion, and strong opinions.

In particular, “Pit Stop” has so far drawn immense praise for its beat and lyrics, but the choreography and delivery has received mixed response.

The discussion on Theqoo was as divided as it gets. Some were absolutely blown away, calling it “super cool” and praising its “fire beat.” Others, however, weren’t entirely convinced, feeling let down by the choreography and composition. As a result, comments show a strong division, ranging from “This song is straight-up amazing” to “Their live vocals are a bit shaky” and “Not feeling the choreography at all.”

Meanwhile, Instiz users were overwhelmingly positive, gushing over “Pit Stop” and wishing for an official release. Many highlighted how the track captures NewJeans‘ signature sound, with some even calling it their best work yet, with comments such as, “This is too good… I need it now”, “This is the NewJeans sound”, and “Wish I could hear it in full HD with a proper MV.”

Additionally, one particular lyric, “No matter how you twist it, the color remains blue jeans,” has resonated deeply with fans, especially in China. The metaphor, likely alluding to the group’s resilience and identity, was praised for its cleverness, leading to comments such as, “If it’s not NewJeans, then who else can pull off a song like this?”

Overall, while “Pit Stop” has ignited both praise and debate, one thing is clear: NewJeans remains a group that sparks conversation. Unfortunately, with the girl group just declaring a temporary hiatus after the court ruled in favor of ADOR and banning members from pursuing independent activities, the future remains vague.
