NewJeans Parents Deny Rumors of Internal Rift: “Absolutely Untrue, We’re More United Than Ever”

On April 4, the parents of NewJeans members publicly refuted recent media reports suggesting a rift among them, affirming their unity and unwavering support for their daughters during the legal dispute with ADOR and HYBE.
Via social media, the parents collectively stated, “The reports circulated by some media outlets are entirely false. All five members are firm in their decision not to return to HYBE.”

They emphasized, “We, the parents, fully respect our daughters’ decisions. These challenges have only strengthened our communication and deepened our bonds. It’s frustrating and disappointing to see baseless rumors about family disputes and potential member departures being reported as fact.”
They also addressed the rumors involving member Hyein and her legal guardianship dispute. “The tabloid reports regarding Haerin are completely untrue. Both Haerin and her parents are firmly united in their stance, and any assumptions about their family situation are entirely unfounded.”
The parents continued, “ADOR and HYBE’s new management have never once earned our trust, and that hasn’t changed.”
These statements came in response to a report that alleged disagreement among the parents regarding the exclusive contract termination lawsuit against ADOR. The day before, the Seoul Central District Court held the first hearing on NewJeans’ lawsuit to confirm the invalidity of their exclusive contract with the agency.
During the session, the court asked the legal representatives of NewJeans whether a guardianship decision had been reached in family court concerning one of the underage members, indicating that an initial disagreement may have been resolved.
This led to speculation that either Hyein or Haerin’s parent might have opposed the lawsuit regarding the contract termination.
In their full statement, the parents clarified:
We collectively confirm that the reports about discord among us are untrue. All five members are firmly against returning to HYBE, and that decision was made after thorough discussions within each family. We had previously agreed that no legal action would begin unless all five members consented, reflecting the strong trust and unity among them.
Even in these difficult times, the members remain close, meeting often and supporting one another. As parents, we communicate regularly and maintain close ties. We’re deeply troubled by the false rumors and reports attempting to create division.
They concluded,_ “The issue of guardianship adjustment was for a different member, whose family is equally united. We urge everyone to refrain from speculating about our private family matters.”_
The parents also cited Korea’s Family Litigation Act, Article 10 and 72, which prohibit disclosing personal information in media related to family court cases, warning against further privacy violations.
“We hope this deeply personal matter is not weaponized to manipulate public opinion in the ongoing dispute with ADOR,” they added. “A company should be built on trust, but we’ve never received that from the new management of ADOR or HYBE, and we never will.”
