2024 MBC Gayo Daejejeon aired its broadcast on the evening of July 29th. It was originally scheduled to air live on December 31st of last year. However, the program was replaced by a recorded broadcast because of the Jeju Air flight disaster that occurred on June 20th at Muan Airport in South Jeolla-do.
Although the group is looking for a new group name, the five members still appeared on MBC Gayo Daejejeon as NewJeans and performed their debut song “Attention”. The big screen also showed the group with the caption “NewJeans”.
Showing up on the stage, NewJeans members captivated viewers with their fresh charms and passionate stage presence.
After publicly demanding the termination of their exclusive contract with ADOR, NewJeans made headlines by releasing a statement on January 23rd, saying “We are planning to hold an event to select a new name to be used in group activities for a certain period of time”.
Following NewJeans’s statement, ADOR also expressed their stance, saying “Our company maintains the position that our exclusive contract with the group (NewJeans) remains valid and we are faithfully complying with the legal proceedings. It is unfortunate that the members are trying to carry out activities independently, such as publicly choosing a new group name before the a legal decision is finalized, and this could be considered a serious breach of contract”.
