NewJeans to Pre-Release Music Video for ‘Right Now’ from Japanese Debut Single ‘Supernatural’ on the 17th
NewJeans (Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, Hyein) announced the pre-release of the music video for “Right Now,” a track from their Japanese debut single ‘Supernatural,’ on June 17th. On the 10th, at midnight, they posted the second teaser for “Right Now” on the HYBE Labels YouTube channel. Unlike the first teaser, which only featured the instrumental, this video includes a snippet of the melody with the members’ vocals.
Their collaboration with Murakami Takashi stands out, showcasing a unique visual style. The NewJeans x Murakami Takashi characters, combined with the Powerpuff Girls characters from their previous work ‘Get Up,’ are creatively integrated into the styling of the five members.
At the end of the video, the release date for the music video (2024.06.17) is announced, heightening fans’ anticipation. ADOR, their agency, stated, “We plan to premiere the ‘Right Now’ music video on the 17th, four days ahead of the release of the Japanese debut single. You can look forward to the lovely charm of NewJeans.”
NewJeans’ Japanese debut is drawing attention for its grand scale. World-renowned pop star Pharrell Williams is credited on the title track ‘Supernatural.’ ‘Supernatural’ is a reinterpretation in the new jack swing style by producer 250, featuring Pharrell Williams’ iconic ad-libs and bridges from his 2009 collaboration ‘Back of My Mind’ with Japanese artist Manami.
The announcement of collaborations with cultural and artistic giants like Murakami Takashi and Hiroshi Fujiwara has also raised expectations for NewJeans’ historic Japanese debut activities. The collaboration with Murakami Takashi includes ‘bag albums’ released as drawstring bags and cross bags, while the collaboration with Hiroshi Fujiwara features street fashion items like T-shirts, bandanas, hats, and bags, targeting Gen Z tastes worldwide. Official merchandise from these collaborations will be available at the ‘Supernatural’ release commemorative pop-up store in Korea and Japan on the 26th.
A large-scale fan meeting is also on the horizon. After the release of their Japanese debut single on the 21st, NewJeans will hold a fan meeting, ‘Bunnies Camp 2024 Tokyo Dome,’ on the 26th and 27th at Tokyo Dome. This marks the shortest time (1 year and 11 months) for an overseas artist to debut at Tokyo Dome. Despite being held on weekdays, NewJeans’ Tokyo Dome fan meeting sold out all tickets.
