NJZ Parents Address Misinformation on Hanni’s Visa, Criticize ADOR and Media Reports

On February 12, the parents of NJZ members issued an official statement addressing the surge of speculative reports and misinformation regarding Hanni’s residency status. They clarified that Hanni had legally obtained a new visa on February 11.
NJZ’s parents stated, “ADOR pressured Hanni and her parents regarding this sensitive visa matter by demanding her signature on a consent form listing ADOR as her agency. They even sent emails stating that refusal to sign could result in illegal residency.”

Additionally, ADOR was accused of submitting official documents requiring Hanni’s personal information and signature to the authorities without her consent, informing her only after the fact.
Concerns were also raised over media outlets spreading unverified claims, particularly the misuse of the term “illegal immigrant,” which contributed to misinformation and unnecessary complaints. Discrepancies were noted between initial reports and later statements, with earlier articles alleging that ADOR had prepared all necessary documents for visa renewal but that Hanni refused to sign, while more recent reports stated that ADOR was unable to confirm the matter.

The statement further condemned the publication of speculative reports on confidential details such as the type and expiration date of Hanni’s visa. They added, “In just the past two days, nearly 70 articles have been published, leading to serious violations of privacy rights. The fact that such private details, which only ADOR could have access to, have been indiscriminately circulated through the media is deeply regrettable.”
Below is the full official statement from NJZ members’ parents.
Hello,
Over the past two days, numerous speculative reports about Hanni’s residency status have been published, and false information has spread. We wish to clarify the facts.
AdvertisementHanni legally obtained a new visa on February 11.
ADOR pressured Hanni and her parents by insisting she sign a consent form listing ADOR as her agency. They even sent emails stating that if she did not agree, she could be classified as an illegal resident. Using the sensitive visa issue as leverage, ADOR placed undue pressure on both Hanni and her parents. Additionally, they submitted official documents requiring personal information and her signature to the relevant authorities without consent, only informing her afterward. Such actions are difficult to comprehend.
Some media outlets have irresponsibly used the term “illegal immigrant” based on unverified information, spreading false rumors and even triggering unnecessary complaints. Moreover, while today’s reports state that “ADOR is unable to verify the matter,” initial reports falsely claimed that “ADOR had prepared all necessary documents for visa renewal, but the individual refused to sign.”
In the past two days alone, nearly 70 articles containing speculative reports on personal information, such as the type and expiration date of Hanni’s visa, have been published, resulting in serious privacy violations. We strongly regret that such confidential details, which only ADOR would have access to, have been recklessly disseminated through the media.
The unauthorized use or leakage of personal information is unacceptable, and the media’s failure to verify facts before publication is a serious issue. Previously, there have also been instances of members’ immigration records being obtained through unauthorized means, and the situation is becoming increasingly severe. To protect the members, we are considering taking legal action.
Thank you for reading this lengthy statement. We sincerely apologize for any concerns or discomfort caused to our fans. Please take care of your health.
Thank you.
Earlier, Hanni was previously accused of being an undocumented immigrant. Her E-6 visa, issued through ADOR, is set to expire in February. With Hanni and NewJeans having announced their contract termination with ADOR, the company is unlikely to extend her visa, fueling controversy.
