On March 5, Koreaboo reported that Nakanishi Aruno, a rising star from Nogizaka46, has become the center of controversy on Asian social media following a series of allegations about her personal life.

According to sources, the 2003-born idol has been accused of being involved with sugar daddies (wealthy, often older men who engage in transactional romantic relationship.) Speculation intensified when she was allegedly discovered using “Papakatsu,” a platform notorious for facilitating paid dating, where she reportedly uploaded suggestive photos. Papakatsu is commonly associated with young women seeking financial support from older men in return for companionship.

Adding to the scandal, Nakanishi Aruno has also been accused of selling her used lingerie online. However, some reports suggest that her social media account may have been hacked, leading to misleading posts about such activities.

The backlash escalated further when resurfaced comments from the idol sparked outrage. She allegedly mocked a disabled person, telling a patient in a vegetative state to “photosynthesize.”

The controversy doesn’t stop there. Nakanishi Aruno has also been accused of threatening to harm 7-year-old child singer Nonoka Murakata and making disrespectful remarks about her own Nogizaka46 group members.

Despite these serious allegations, she was still chosen as one of the two centers for Nogizaka46’s latest promotions, triggering heated discussions among Korean netizens.

On Pann, many South Korean netizens reacted with shock.

  • How did she even get picked as the center? This is more shocking than the scandals themselves.
  • Japan seems so lenient when it comes to celebrities’ personal lives. If this happened in Korea, she’d be forced to retire immediately.
  • Isn’t this a damn mess? She was involved in Papakatsu, and if being favored by the company is the only way to become a center, then she probably got sponsorship from someone higher up.
  • Didn’t something similar get exposed there before? I remember hearing about a scandal where a member allegedly entertained executives, and it caused a huge stir. But with so many groups like 48 and 46, I can’t even keep track anymore.
  • Japanese idols tend to thrive in the shadows, while Korean idols grow more in the spotlight…

Born in 2003, Nakanishi Aruno is part of Nogizaka46’s 5th generation. In addition to her singing career, she has also appeared in TV dramas such as “Oshi no Ko” and “Koshodo Monogatari.”
