On November 20 (local time), The Sun reported that Harry Styles and former members of One Direction reunited to say their final goodbyes to Liam Payne. The funeral was held privately at a church outside London, with attendance restricted to family and close friends to maintain privacy.
Among the mourners were numerous celebrities, including Kimberley Walsh, Jamie Scott, and James Corden. Kate Cassidy, Liam Payne’s girlfriend, also attended but avoided media cameras, swiftly entering the church.
Kate had earlier shared her grief on social media after hearing the tragic news:
“Thank you all for your kind messages. I am utterly lost and cannot believe this has happened. I kindly ask for privacy at this time. Liam, I want you to know that I loved you unconditionally and completely. I will continue to love you for the rest of my life.”
Cheryl Tweedy, Liam’s former girlfriend and mother of their son, was also seen among the mourners. Cheryl and Liam dated from 2016 to 2018 and remained co-parents to their son.
Liam Payne tragically passed away on October 16 after falling from a third-floor balcony in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The singer had been in the city to attend a concert and reconnect with fellow One Direction member Niall Horan at Movistar Arena.
Toxicology reports revealed that Payne had multiple substances in his system at the time of his death. Witnesses reported erratic behavior before the incident. According to Mirror, three individuals have been arrested in connection with the case as investigations continue.
Liam Payne rose to fame in 2010 as a contestant on The X Factor, where he was later placed into One Direction by the judges. Though the group finished third in the competition, they went on to become one of the most iconic British bands since The Beatles, selling over 70 million records worldwide during their five-year career.
