Park Bo-gum Successfully Takes His First Step Toward a Perfect “Life of Another” (My Name Is Gabriel)

On June 21st, JTBC aired the first episode of “My Name Is Gabriel” featuring Park Bo-gum, who faces the new challenge of living 72 hours as a stranger named “Gabriel”, whose life he knows nothing about.
In the episode, Park Bo-gum checked his destination while in the car heading to the airport, showing a mix of anticipation and nervousness about living in Dublin, a city he had never visited before.
Although he appeared to study diligently about Dublin while on the plane, he soon fell into a deep sleep, displaying a very human side that brought smiles to viewers.

Upon arriving at a house in Dublin, Ireland, Park Bo-gum began to infer what kind of person “Gabriel” was by examining items like guitar picks, sheet music, baton and business cards found in the room. He wrapped up his first night with a determination to live well and not disrupt the life of the person he was replacing.
The next morning, following Gabriel’s routine, Park Bo-gum started his day with a sense of excitement and anticipation, as if embarking on a new journey. Faced with the new mission of meeting Gabriel’s friends, he displayed a mix of confusion and welcome as strangers greeted him warmly.
Through conversations with Gabriel’s friends, Park Bo-gum learned his new name “Ruri” and that he was the leader of an a cappella choir. This sudden responsibility weighed heavily on him, especially after learning about a busking performance scheduled two days later.

Heading to the practice room to meet the choir members, Park Bo-gum quickly embraced his role as leader, taking on tasks like conducting, singing and choosing songs. During the practice session, he sang “Falling Slowly” solo, blending his voice with the harmonies of the choir members, eventually becoming so emotional that he could not continue singing.
In this way, Park Bo-gum bravely immersed himself in the life of Ruri, who lives in Dublin, temporarily stepping away from his daily life as an actor.
With his rich sensitivity, excellent adaptability and sociability, it will be interesting to see how Park Bo-gum portrays the life of Ruri over the course of 72 hours.
“My Name Is Gabriel” featuring Park Bo-gum airs every Friday at 8:50 PM on JTBC.
