Park Gyu-young was scouted to become an actress in 2015, by JYP Entertainment. At the time, the “Big 3” K-pop agency noticed her on the cover of a college magazine called “Daehaknaeil”. The actress was so busy with her constant works (at least 5 acting gigs a year) that it took her 8 years to finish university

Given her educational background (top school in Korea and fashion major), Park is known for her interest in fashion, often praised for her red-carpet appearances and editorial shoots. 

Apparently, she took the college exam twice, and believed that she didn’t study very well, just got lucky in exams.

She is known to do ballet and can speak English pretty well. 

In 2023, the actress was selected to become a global ambassador for luxury fashion brand Gucci.

Park Gyu-young made her acting debut in 2016 in Jo Kwon’s MV “Crosswalk” and as a cameo in the web series “Touching You”. From 2016 to 2018, she assumed various supporting roles in TV and web-dramas. She also debuted on the big screen with the 2018 films “Wretches” and “Love+Sling”.

In 2019, Park Gyu-young gained minor attention with supporting roles in “Romance is a Bonus Book” and “Nokdu Flower”. She left JYP Entertainment and joined Saram Entertainment in the same year.

Park Gyu-young’s breakout role came in the widely popular 2020 drama “It’s Okay to Not Be Okay”, where she finally landed a major role. The actress then continued her popularity with a role in Netflix series “Sweet Home”.

In 2021, Park Gyu-young transitioned to leading roles with the K-dramas “The Devil Judge” and “Dali and Cocky Prince”.

She then reaffirmed her status as a major actress as the star of Netflix’s 2023 series “Celebrity”, gaining massive attention. In fact, the actress’ bob cut in this drama quickly became a trend among female viewers

Within the same year, Park Gyu-young also drew attention as the female lead of “A Good Day to be a Dog”, where she co-starred with idol-actor Cha Eun-woo. At the time, the actress’ heated kiss with Cha Eun-woo quickly became a hot topic.

Most recently, Park Gyu-young appeared on “Squid Game 2” as Kang No-eul, a mother who worked as a guard in the “Squid Game” to earn money to find her missing daughter.

According to the actress, she had to audition twice for the role and even kept her casting news a secret from her friends and parents for over a year.
