Park Hae-mi And Marriage Fails: Working Hard At The Age Of 60 To Support Ex-Husband Financially

Making her face known to the public through the sitcom “High Kick”, Park Hae-mi has a youthful and bright appearance but little do people know she has a heartbreaking past.
Park Hae-mi debuted as a musical actress and used to participate in performances of popular musicals such as “Mamma Mia!”, “42nd Street”, or “Really Really Like You”.

In 2005, Park Hae-mi turned to drama to develop herself and immediately got her first lead role in the 2006 sitcom “High Kick”. Thanks to the success of “High Kick”, Park Hae-mi also gained huge attention but she couldn’t maintain the popularity for a long time. After “High Kick”, the actress did not star in any other hit dramas and only played supporting and small roles in musicals. Until now, “High Kick” is still her one and only representative project.
Despite her unimpressive career, Park Hae-mi is still remembered for her marriage tragedies. Park Hae-mi’s first marriage was with Mr. Lim, an employee of a big company, but it wasn’t for love. Therefore, Park Hae-mi reportedly suffered severe domestic violence. Her husband was a controlling person so he installed a bugging device and checked on her every day, even her underwear. After the family moved to Canada, Park Hae-mi became more lonely and stressed. In the end, she gained all her courage to divorce and get custody of her son.

Her second husband Hwang Min is a Korean-Canadian, whom she met at a Gaksi Pumbaa performance. Gaksi Pumbaa was special because all the audience would join the actors on the stage at the end of the performance. Back then, Park Hae-mi accidentally went out with Hwang Min and they got to know each other. Despite her family’s opposition, Park Hae-mi insisted on marrying Hwang Min.

In 2018, Hwang Min caused an accident while driving the car with the members of Park Hae-mi’s play as his passengers. Under the influence of alcohol, Hwang Min drove at a speed of 167km/h and crashed into a 25-ton truck parked on the roadside. His alcohol concentration was high enough for a driving license revocation and two musical actors died in the accident.

Eventually, Hwang Min was arrested at the request of Park Hae-mi and the two did not meet each other during the investigation. In the end, they divorced after 25 years of marriage. Imprisoned for 4 years and 6 months, Hwang Min demanded Park Hae-mi to support him financially. To support Hwang Min, the actress even sold a house and has been working hard since 2018.
