On the June 28 episode of JTBC’s variety show Knowing Bros (Ep. 488), g.o.d’s Park Joon Hyung shared a heartwarming story involving a direct message (DM) he received from none other than IU, melting viewers’ hearts.

The episode was themed around “JUNE”, featuring guests Park Joon Hyung, Go Joon, Lee Sang Joon and Yuk Jun Seo, who each brought their own charm and comedic flair to the show.

Yuk Jun Seo opened up about his insecurities, revealing that he felt uncomfortable watching his face on Netflix‘s dating show “Single’s Inferno”. “My mid-face looked really long,” he said, laughing at himself. He even shared a funny story about a face mask not fitting properly, which made the cast burst into laughter.

Jun Seo also spoke candidly about his experience in the Navy’s UDT (Underwater Demolition Team), saying, “I originally wanted to join the Army’s Special Forces, but I loved swimming and thought UDT sounded cool in English.” He described the grueling training: waking up at 6 AM, training until late, and serving for 4 years and 6 months after enlisting at 19.

But the most touching moment came when Park Joon Hyung mentioned IU, a well-known fan of g.o.d (whose fandom is called “fangod”). Park revealed that IU once sent him a heartfelt DM. “IU told me she had a tough childhood, but our music gave her strength and hope. That’s why I’m so proud of her and thankful,” he said emotionally.

He also opened up about his childhood in 1970s~80s America, sharing painful memories of racial discrimination. “Even my friends avoided me because they didn’t want to be teased. The beach was the only place where I felt free—where the waves felt like my friends,” he recalled.

He said seeing the large waves during a trip to Portugal on the variety show “World Dice Tour” reminded him of those childhood moments. “Even far away, the ocean felt like it was still with me. I cried,” he admitted.

Moved by that scene, IU sent him a long DM. “She said she was touched and told me to keep appearing on TV like that. It meant so much to me,” Park shared, his voice filled with gratitude. His story ended the segment on a warm and emotional note, highlighting the genuine bond between two artists from different generations.
