On the June 11 episode of You Quiz on the Block, actor and independent publisher Park Jung-min shared a deeply personal reflection about his family, his career break, and his journey of self-awareness.

Currently taking a break from acting, Park has been focusing on running his small publishing house Muje. “We started as a one-person publishing company. Now there are two of us, and I serve as the director,” he joked, admitting that his lack of experience in the field has led to some growing pains in the business. “My colleague actually got mad at me recently for missing so many work details.”

Anticipating his You Quiz appearance might boost interest in his books, Park confessed, “Everyone in publishing says ‘You Quiz’ is the peak of promotion. I even called bookstores asking, ‘Hey, I’m appearing on You Quiz—do you have my book in stock?'” He admitted with a laugh, “I know it sounds desperate, but if the books aren’t there, it’s all for nothing.”

But the emotional core of the episode came when Park opened up about his father’s blindness. “He lost his vision in an accident,” Park said, adding that he recently published an audiobook for his father.

“The most painful part was realizing I was actually pitying myself for having a blind father,” he admitted, his voice heavy with emotion. “That made me feel disgusted with myself. It was shameful.”

Now, Park says he’s trying to act on those emotions with more empathy and purpose. “It’s only now that I’m really starting to think about what I can do for him.”

Park Jung-min’s heartfelt honesty and vulnerability offered a powerful moment of introspection, reminding viewers of the deeply human stories behind even the most familiar faces on screen.
