Top Star Faces Back-to-Back Misfortunes: From Unwarranted Drama to Home Burglary Shock
Comedian Park Na-rae, one of Korea’s most recognizable entertainers, is currently facing a wave of distressing events, from being dragged into a colleague’s controversy to suffering a major home burglary that left her emotionally shaken.
Controversial Druken Livestream
The situation began when BoA, during a drunken livestream, made inappropriate remarks and involved Park Na-rae without her consent. BoA questioned Park Na-rae’s suitability to date broadcaster Jun Hyun-moo, a comment that sparked backlash and unwanted attention toward Park Na-rae, who had no part in the broadcast.
As the controversy escalated, Park Na-rae chose to remain silent and handled the situation with grace. However, just days later, she was hit by an even more serious misfortune.
Burglary at Park Na-rae’s Home
On April 7, comedian Park Na-rae discovered that her Itaewon home in Seoul had been burglarized, with valuables including jewelry reportedly stolen. The theft, estimated to be worth tens of millions of KRW, was reported to police the following day after Park consulted with her manager. The exact time of the break-in remains unknown, and she is currently reviewing her belongings as the investigation unfolds.
According to reports from Sports Chosun and SPOTV News, police found no signs of forced entry, leading them to suspect an inside job. The investigation is now focused on individuals who may have had access to the property.
Some of the stolen items are believed to be luxury goods previously shown on MBC’s “I Live Alone,” where Park Na-rae is a longtime cast member. Her frequent appearances on the show, which showcased her home’s interior and routines, may have inadvertently provided intruders with detailed information about the house’s layout.
This incident has brought renewed attention to comments made by fellow entertainer Kian84 in July of last year. At the time, he expressed concern over Park Na-rae’s trusting nature, saying, “Our Na-rae likes to treat people well and has a lot of people around her… She trusts people too easily.” He also warned her to be cautious of individuals who seem suspicious and claim to be wealthy or involved in major ventures.
Park Na-rae purchased the detached home in 2021 for ₩5.57 billion (approx. $4.2 million USD) through an auction. Located in Itaewon’s Yongsan District, the property features a land area of 551㎡ and a building size of 319.34㎡. By 2024, the home’s estimated value had risen to approximately ₩7 billion, reflecting a ₩1.5 billion increase over three years.
Park Na-rae’s team has stated that the full extent of the damage will only be known once the police investigation is complete.
Absence and Emotional Toll
Due to the distressing incident, Park Na-rae was absent from her scheduled appearance on “Son Tae-jin’s Trot Radio” on April 7. Initially cited as a personal matter, sources close to the comedian later confirmed she is deeply shaken and mentally distressed by the break-in.
From being unfairly pulled into BoA’s livestream controversy to experiencing a serious invasion of privacy, Park Na-rae’s recent struggles have highlighted the vulnerabilities even top celebrities face.
