The main vocalist of BABYMONSTER, Rami, has a powerful voice. Rami’s real name is Shin Haram, born in 2007 in South Korea. She was a trainee at YG Entertainment for six years before debuting with the group BABYMONSTER. Throughout her trainee period and even in the reality show, Rami retained her name Haram. It wasn’t until November 2023, just before her debut with the song “Batter Up,” that she changed her stage name to Rami.

  • Full name: Shin Haram
  • Native name: 신하람
  • Birthday: Oct 17, 2007

The BABYMONSTER vocalist has an impressive height, a slender figure, and long, straight legs. From the early pre-debut images, Rami has made a significant impression on K-pop fans. Notably, her choice of bright blonde hair and her position as the main vocalist of BABYMONSTER led many to compare her to her senior Rosé. The Gen 5 idol also confirmed that Rosé (BLACKPINK) is the role model she aspires to emulate.

The name Rami has gone viral on social media as she confidently showcases her raw singing talent. Moreover, in a vlog clip from ILLIT, the HYBE girl group was stunned when they heard Rami’s voice resonating in the background as the BABYMONSTER member warmed up her vocals before taking the stage.

Indeed, Rami possesses a powerful voice that stands on par with her seniors, and this was even more evident during her first solo performance, where she participated in a music show to showcase her unique vocal abilities.

The 16-year-old girl has been compared to Celine Dion.

In an online talk show, Rami opened with BABYMONSTER’s latest song – the single “Forever.” For her solo performance, she had to handle all the lines for all the members but was very confident singing live over an acoustic background. Her sweet voice combined with the soothing piano melody created a different allure compared to the original version.

Afterward, interspersed between conversations with host Lee Mu Jin, Rami performed several songs by other artists, such as “City Burns” (by Andra Day), “Crazy” (Gnarls Barkley), “Bloodsucker” (CIL), and “My Love” (Route 94 ft. Jess Glynne). Finally, Rami closed the show with a duet with the male host on “Last Goodbye” by AKMU. These varied songs allowed the K-pop rookie to showcase her versatile musical style.

Throughout the show, Rami demonstrated confidence, engaging in lively and cheerful conversations. Her powerful singing, high notes, and vocal embellishments, combined with her articulate demeanor, made it hard for the audience to believe she was a rookie who had just debuted.

During the show, Lee Mu Jin praised Rami extensively: “She showcases a wide range while still highlighting her unique personality. She controls the song wonderfully, providing a clear sense of the beginning, middle, and end of a story.”

In fact, Lee Mu Jin stated that Rami “has a bit of a Celine Dion vibe” – referring to the famous Canadian singer known for the legendary song “My Heart Will Go On.”

Before her debut, YG Entertainment posted a video titled “BABYMONSTER – HARAM (Live Performance)” on its official YouTube channel. Here, the first close up images of Haram (a.k.a Rami) were released, and her cover of Mario’s “Let Me Love You” was revealed.

In the video, Rami shows off overwhelming emotions and vocal abilities that are hard to believe for a 15-year-old. The BABYMONSTER member filled the space with a soulful tone on a calm piano melody without any flashy stage equipment. Her delicate expressiveness that was maintained throughout the whole video was also enough to shake the hearts of fans.

In particular, in the 2nd half of the song, Rami flaunts her graceful pace control. She also immersed herself into the song by expressing sorrowful emotions and touched the hearts of viewers with unwavering live vocals and YG’s signature colors.

Could YG Entertainment be planning for Rami to develop a solo career soon?

It can be seen that when Rami participates in shows with a high musical standard, she perfectly highlights her Main Vocal skills. Furthermore, Rami is continuously improving her performance and dancing skills, and in the near future, if she is chosen to be the first face to go solo, we can trust that this 16-year-old girl, with her powerful voice and Korean-standard visuals, will be impressive enough to carry an entire song without needing to share the spotlight as she would in group activities.

After seeing Rami perform solo quite well, fans hope that YG will frequently allow her to participate in more specialized shows to gain real-world experience through reality shows and variety shows. This could help her attract more fans and build her personal fan base in preparation for her solo activities in the future.

If this is true, we hope that in the future, Rami will be positively received by the audience for her solo products. Currently, BABYMONSTER has 6 out of 7 members under 20 years old, with the youngest member being just 15. These girls debuted quite early, so YG is always very concerned about the psychology and spirit of all seven members, as public pressure is immense. To endure the tremendous pressure that BLACKPINK once experienced is incredibly challenging and overwhelming for these girls. Therefore, it is possible that YG will allow each member to develop individually, and once they reach maturity, they will release solo products, making it easier for netizens to approach and be more receptive.
