Rain recently acquired the building located in Apgujeong Rodeo under the name of Megabig Entertainment, where his father serves as the CEO. The building, with one underground floor and six above-ground floors, was purchased for approximately 15.8 billion won, leaving many in awe.
Particularly, in 2021, Rain made headlines when he and his wife, Kim Tae Hee, jointly purchased a building in Seocho-dong, Seocho-gu, for approximately 92 billion won.
In a recently released YouTube video on his channel “Season B Season,” titled “Rain Hits Venice Beach After Traveling to the U.S. (ft. Crazy Prices in the U.S.),” Rain shared his memories of living in the U.S. While on his way to Venice Beach after arriving in LA, he recalled the hardships he faced. “When I was in my mid to late 20s, I went to so many auditions that there were many times I just wanted to return to Korea,” he shared.
Rain further talked about how, during his time auditioning for “Ninja Assassin” and “Speed Racer,” he decided to save money by moving into a one-room apartment in a rough area of Burbank. “I would take a cup of Shin Ramyun to Starbucks, buy a cup of coffee, and ask for hot water to pour in,” he said, reminiscing about his financially tough youth.
Hearing this, the PD commented, “You really weren’t afraid,” to which Rain confidently responded, “I wasn’t afraid. People run on confidence.” He also reflected, “There are people who say I got lucky, but in truth, I don’t see it that way. I’ve worked really hard to get here.”
Rain is known to have experienced a difficult childhood, losing his mother due to diabetes because they couldn’t afford her medical treatment in time. During his youth, he also had to get by on ramen soaked in milk for meals.
Rain, the husband of actress Kim Tae Hee, publicly expressed his love for his family through a broadcast. In a YouTube episode of “Season B Season,” released on the 30th, Rain (Jung Jihoon) was seen filming a food vlog in Italy.
During the episode, when the PD announced, “I’m getting married,” Rain responded, “A man can lose everything, but as long as he has his family, he can even kneel and swallow his pride.” The married PD agreed with Rain’s sentiment.
Rain shared his life philosophy: “There are three things a man must do well in life: make his parents smile, make his wife smile, and make his children smile. If you can do these three things, that’s a successful life.” He continued, “Making my wife happy is not a big deal. I do the dishes, clean up, and sometimes just hug her for no reason. It’s the same with parents. Sometimes, just saying ‘I love you, Dad’ without any reason is enough.”
