Recently, an online community post titled “‘Reply 1988’ Jin-joo’s Life After Completing Gifted Education Program” went viral. The post revealed the latest updates on actress Kim Seol, who played the daughter of Kim Sun-young and the younger sister of Go Kyung-pyo in tvN’s “Reply 1988,” which aired in 2015. Now 14 years old, Kim Seol completed an invention-focused gifted education program under the Education Office in 2021. Her older brother was also featured on SBS’s “Einstein,” where he was recognized as a math prodigy.

“Reply 1988” depicted the lives of five families living in a neighborhood in Ssangmun-dong during the late 1980s. The drama recorded the highest cable TV ratings at the time. Its OST was a huge hit, with seven songs making it into the top 20 on the music charts. The drama also popularized internet slang such as “Eonamryu” (short for the husband is Ryu Jun-yeol anyway”) and Eonamtaek” (short for “the husband is Taek anyway”).

Meanwhile, Kim Seol made her debut in the film “Ode to My Father” and rose to fame through her role as Jin-joo in “Reply 1988.” She also starred in the Turkish film “Ayla: The Daughter of War” as the main character, capturing hearts with her adorable image and gaining immense popularity in Turkey.
