“Resident Playbook” Surpasses “Weak Hero Class 2,” Tops TV-OTT Buzz Rankings for Two Consecutive Weeks

According to the 4th week of April (April 21–27) FUNdex data released by Good Data Corporation on April 29, “Resident Playbook” ranked first in overall buzz among TV-OTT dramas.
After debuting at third place during its premiere week, the series climbed to first place in its second week and maintained the top position into the third week, showing a steady rise in popularity.

A spin-off of the beloved drama “Hospital Playlist,” “Resident Playbook” follows the growth journey of residents who dream of someday leading wise lives as doctors. The drama stars Go Youn-jung, Shin Si-ah, Kang Yoo-seok, Han Ye-ji, and Jung Joon-won, and first aired on April 12.
The drama’s momentum has also benefited its cast members. In the buzz ranking for drama actors, Go Youn-jung claimed the top spot for the second consecutive week. Playing the role of Oh Yi-young, her portrayal of a struggling yet evolving resident has captured the hearts of viewers with a blend of humor and emotion.

Meanwhile, Jung Joon-won, who plays Koo Do-won, Yi-young’s crush, is also receiving widespread attention, ranking second in the actor buzz category.

In the most recent sixth episode of “Resident Playbook,” the theme of personal growth was particularly notable.
Kang Yoo-seok’s character, Eom Jae-il, took a significant step forward by voluntarily attending an ultrasound practice session and responding immediately to an emergency call, showing newfound dedication compared to his past behavior.

In another subplot, Bae Hyun-sung’s character, Jang Hong-do, encouraged Eom Jae-il with the line, “It doesn’t matter if you’re last now — just leave first when you graduate,” delivering a heartfelt message that resonated deeply with viewers.
Shin Si-ah’s character, Pyo Nam-kyung, and Han Ye-ji’s character, Kim Sa-bi, continued their comedic tension and eventual reconciliation, adding humor to the drama’s emotional tone.
