BTS Celebrates 12th Debut Anniversary Today (June 13), RM Says “We’ll Truly Try Our Best Again”
On June 13, RM left a lengthy message on the fan platform Weverse, writing, “Once again, I want to try heading somewhere, though I don’t know where. I still don’t fully know how many, or who, are by our side right now, but I’d like to walk together with you in a romantic way. Let’s make lots of memories.”
He continued, “Through weary days, sleepless nights, incomprehensible people and endless thoughts—I want to courageously adventure into tomorrow once again, pushing through all that underbrush. Every time I stood before a distant crossroads, I was able to endure and push forward because of you. I’m truly, truly thankful.”
He added, “We’ll truly try our best again. Thank you for giving us the opportunity.”
Meanwhile, BTS’s RM and BTS V were officially discharged from their respective units: RM from the 15th Infantry Division’s military band and V from the elite Special Mission Unit under the 2nd Corps’ military police. The duo reunited with fans at the Sinbuk-eup Sports Park Soccer Field in Chuncheon, sharing heartfelt remarks after 18 months of service.
While V appeared beaming and fresh, RM wore sunglasses and sported a slightly swollen face, prompting a wave of concern and curiosity. Later that day, RM took to Weverse for a live broadcast to explain.
“I didn’t eat lunch and climbed stairs daily during my final leave,” he said. “Then last night, while talking with my juniors, I lay down around 2 AM, and tears just started flowing.”
He continued, “It was a very emotional moment. I felt like a trainee again in my 30s. It’s been years since anyone scolded me, and suddenly I was being scolded again. It reminded me of how far I’ve come.”
RM’s honest confession struck a chord with fans, who praised his humility and emotional depth. The discharge ceremony was not only a reunion for RM and V but also marked the nearing full return of BTS. On June 11, Jimin and Jungkook were also discharged. Suga is expected to complete his alternative service on June 21.
During the brief public appearance, RM reflected, “It felt like the shortest military service ever. Though there were tough and painful moments, I learned to appreciate the sacrifices made by those on the frontlines.”
V added, “The army gave me time to reflect on my body and mind. I’m grateful to the fans who waited. I’ll work hard to be a better person.”
With only days until Suga rejoins, fans worldwide are anticipating BTS‘s full group comeback. HYBE has confirmed that Jin and J-Hope, who were discharged earlier, have resumed their activities, and expectations are high for what’s next for the global superstars.
