On June 28th, BlackPink’s main vocalist Rose (BlackPink) stole media spotlights with her appearances at Psy’s concert “Summer Swag 2025” as a guest alongside G-Dragon. In addition to duet songs “The Idol” and “APT.”, Rosé also performed solo stages with “Toxic Till the End” and “Number One Girl”. However, her vocals during those performances sparked unexpected controversy online.

Many netizens pointed out that Rosé sounded off-key and strained during “Toxic Till the End”, with some parts of her voice even cracking. Despite using backtracks for support, the overall vocal quality failed to satisfy a majority of the audience. Rosé’s voice trembled throughout the song, and her breath control appeared weak. Despite performing in such a bad condition, Rosé was still able to hype up the crowd with her energy and interactions. With years of live performance experience from her time with BLACKPINK, Rosé has developed strong stage presence and exceptional performance skills.
After the performances, the public shared various opinions online. Many believe that Rosé jeopardizes the success of BLACKPINK‘s upcoming DEADLINE world tour with her current vocal condition. Some added that as the group’s main vocalist, if she fails to recover, it could cause serious issues. On the other hand, some netizens defended Rosé, saying that she had just gone all out performing “The Idol” and “APT.”, so it’s understandable that she may have been out of breath or vocally unstable.
Some netizens commented:
- “Seems like she was having a sore throat. How is she going on tour like this?”
- “This tour is going to be ruined.”
- “Hope she gets enough rest and prepares well for DEADLINE.”
- “She usually carries the vocals on tour, but if she’s cracking like this, it’s hard to save the group.”
- “Why are so many things happening right before the tour?”
BLACKPINK is currently preparing to return with their new world tour, DEADLINE, as well as their long-awaited comeback with a new album.
