When asked about her hit track “APT.” inspired by the Korean drinking game “Apartment,” Rosé explained:

“While working on my album overseas, I introduced some foreign friends to Korean drinking games. My favorite was ‘Apartment.’ It’s simple and fun, and they loved it. We started playing around with beats, chanting ‘apartment, apartment,’ and eventually turned it into a love story about meeting and having fun at an apartment.”

“Bruno had a clear vision for it. He casually suggested a pink background, which turned out beautifully. He even mentioned waving a Korean flag for fun, saying it would be something people in Korea might love. He bought the flag himself during his tour and brought it along—it was such a thoughtful touch.”

First Full-Length Solo Album ‘Rosie’

With her debut album Rosie set to release on December 6, Rosé shared the significance behind the title:

“‘Rosie’ is the name my friends and family call me in English. This album is deeply personal—music that reflects my true self. I hope it resonates with others the way it comforts me.”

Rosé participated in writing and composing all the tracks, even singing a snippet of 3am during the interview. She discussed a song inspired by dealing with online comments:

“I wanted to act tough, pretending those comments didn’t affect me, but they did. One day, I acknowledged my feelings and wrote a song about it. That song, Number One Girl, became a healing moment for me and reflects emotions anyone might experience in relationships.”

On What Drives Her

When asked what motivates her, Rosé said:

“I love working, so hearing ‘You’re doing well’ really encourages me. It’s especially meaningful when those close to me acknowledge my efforts.”

Reflecting on her journey since becoming a trainee at 16, Rosé shared the challenges of leaving her family behind:

“It was lonely at times, but I was determined to succeed. Even when my parents told me I could come back, I insisted, ‘No, I’ll debut and then return.’”

Dreams Then and Now

When asked how her current life compares to her teenage dreams, Rosé said:

“Back then, even becoming a trainee in Korea was my dream. Performing at Coachella felt unimaginable—it started as something I wanted to watch, not perform in. I’m grateful for the amazing people I’ve met and the opportunities I’ve had.”

Looking ahead, Rosé hopes to continue creating heartfelt music:

“Writing Rosie brought me so much joy. My dream is to remain an artist who creates honest and meaningful music.”
