SEVENTEEN’s Agency Reportedly Takes Legal Action Against Online Commenter: Fan Posts Plea for Settlement

A post on popular Korean forum Theqoo titled “Pledis, Seventeen‘s Agency, Reportedly Moving Forward with Legal Action” has stirred intense discussion after a fan, allegedly involved in the case, shared a desperate message online.
The anonymous fan wrote, “Hello, I’ve been sued by the idol group Seventeen. I was mainly active on Nate Pann and Twitter, and didn’t make videos on YouTube — I only left comments… I’ve written an apology letter and I’m hoping for a settlement.” The post also included a photo of the handwritten apology.

The fan continued, “If there’s no settlement, I heard a fine is the most common outcome… How much is the usual fine in these cases?”
According to the original poster, “There were rumors that this was an ip-go-so (lawsuit filed directly without prior warning), and now it’s reportedly been posted on Naver KnowledgeiN.”

The response across Korean online communities has been overwhelmingly in favor of the legal move, with netizens expressing both satisfaction and support for harsh punishment against cyberbullies. Many feel this could be a much-needed deterrent against the rise of malicious commentary and online harassment, particularly targeting K-pop idols.
Comments on Theqoo:

- “Your family problems, your parents’ fights, and your phone change — that’s all your business ^^ Now pay the proper price for the fingers you used to mock others.”
- “Ah, finally! This is so damn satisfying, lol. Whether they’re minors or adults, make them all pay fines. I hope they catch the sasaeng fans who make those creepy calls too.”
- “This one took 2 months, so that ahjumma’s gift card must be on the way soon too, LOL. She was so confident they wouldn’t sue, even made spin accounts on Instagram to keep going, and now she can’t back out. Imagine how scared she must be every day.”
- “Twitter’s full of people who treat bullying like a game. It’s been disgusting to watch. Every one of them uses inhumane language — I really hope they all get sued. No mercy. People like that need punishment.”
- “Those kinds of trash accounts are still out there. Some are still spewing garbage about Mitchee. Draw the red line and post the outcome publicly. Let everyone see.”
As of now, Pledis Entertainment has not released an official public statement, but the growing visibility of the case highlights how seriously agencies are beginning to treat malicious online behavior.
