On November 21, the Walt Disney Company held the ‘Disney Content Showcase APAC 2024’ at the Marina Bay Sands Expo & Convention Centre in Singapore.

The event provided a preview of upcoming theatrical releases and streaming titles for 2025 and beyond. Over 500 reporters and industry professionals from 12 countries across the Asia-Pacific region, including Korea, attended the event.

Since 2021, Disney+ has been showcasing various works in the Asia-Pacific region, including Korea, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand.

In Korea, where hits like ‘Moving‘ and ‘The Killer’s Shopping Mall’ were released, Disney+ will introduce new titles from the second half of this year through next year, including ‘Lighting Store’, ‘Trigger’, ‘Hyperknife’, ‘Knock-off’, ‘Nine Puzzle’, ‘Fine’, ‘Polaris’, and ‘Made in Korea’.

During the event, Carol Choi, Disney’s head of original content strategy for the Asia-Pacific region, also shared exciting news. She said, “Moving is an action-fantasy series, but at its core, it deals with themes of friendship, family, and human relationships. The way it was told was refreshing.”

She added, “After its release in 2023, it won the most awards and was nominated for Best Drama at the Critics’ Choice Awards. It also became the most-watched local original Disney series worldwide.” She went on to announce, “We have started working on Season 2 of ‘Moving’ in collaboration with writer Kang Full. It is still in the early stages, but we will share more details in the future.”

Writer Kang Full Begins Scriptwriting

According to an OSEN report on the 10th, Kang Full has already begun drafting the script for Moving’s next season, and some of the main cast from Season 1 have been informed of this development.

However, it is likely that filming will begin the year after next. Due to the challenge of coordinating multiple top stars and the large-scale nature of the project, pre-production is anticipated to take some time, with a tentative release target of 2026.

Fans are also eager to see what direction Kang Full will take the story in Season 2. There is speculation over whether the Moving series will continue along the lines of Bridge and Timing, or how the characters from Season 1 might be effectively reintroduced.

Kang Full previously expressed on the radio show Heo Jiwoong Show last year, “I do plan on a Season 2, but it’s complicated,” sharing his concerns about continuing the story. He noted that although Bridge and Hidden are sequential works in the original webtoon, introducing them would also require Timing, which would expand the story significantly. “Viewers who enjoyed Moving thus far want the story to continue, but if a completely different story suddenly appears, they might be left wondering, ‘What’s this?’” he explained.

Addressing speculation over actor Yoo Seung-ho potentially being cast as Kim Young-tak, the time-stopper character briefly shown in the final episode, Kang Full clarified, “I was surprised as well, but it wasn’t intentional. I didn’t realize we shared the same birthdate. It wasn’t planned, though I don’t know what fate has in store.”

Moving Season 1 premiered on Disney+ last August as a 20-episode series with a star-studded cast including Ryu Seung-ryong, Jo In-sung, Han Hyo-joo, Cha Tae-hyun, Ryu Seung-beom, and rising stars like Lee Jung-ha, Go Youn-jung, and Kim Do-hoon. Kang Full, the author of the original Moving webtoon, wrote the script himself, collaborating with Kingdom Season 2 director Park In-je. With a production budget of a whopping 50 billion won, the project garnered attention from its early planning stages.

Living up to the anticipation, Moving topped Disney+’s worldwide TV show rankings and won over audiences not only in the U.S. but in Japan, Hong Kong, Indonesia, the Philippines, Brazil, and Argentina, receiving praise from international media outlets.
