Woman Accused of Blackmailing Son Heung-min Over Fake Pregnancy Appears in Court Netizens Stunned

On May 17, the 20-something woman, identified as Ms. Yang, was seen entering the Seoul Central District Court in Seocho. She’s accused of blackmailing the national football team captain Son Heung-min by falsely claiming she was pregnant with his child.

The case stems from an incident in June 2023, when Ms. Yang allegedly sent an ultrasound image to Son Heung-min’s side, claiming it was their unborn child. She then threatened to go public with the story unless she received money. Reports state she was paid ₩300 million KRW (about $220,000 USD) in what authorities now classify as extortion.

As soon as the story hit the internet, social media and online communities erupted with reactions. Many were stunned:
- Are they really going this far??
- What did Son Heung-min say, seriously!! The first time I ever heard about Son Heung-min was when a female singer was crying because of him, and since then, his attitude towards women has consistently been the same.
- Even Yoon Suk-yeol wouldn’t get caught like that… What’s going on?
- Wasn’t it the woman who was being threatened? Wow, seriously lol
- Whether the woman threatened, lied, got pregnant, or committed extortion—does any of that even matter here? In this post, the real issue is how the man and the police formed a power cartel, completely ignoring human rights, arresting and brutally mistreating a woman who’s neither a dangerous criminal nor a flight risk. Because of the reckless move this time, no matter what the truth turns out to be, it’s irrelevant now. Whatever nonsense the woman did can’t even compare to the absolute mess happening today. Got it.
- I didn’t comment on this issue before, but seeing this photo, it feels really harsh. Is it really necessary to go this far? They say she was his ex-girlfriend.
- This is insane, what on earth are they doing? They say she’s his ex-girlfriend.
As of now, the court has yet to announce its decision on whether a formal arrest warrant will be issued. Public interest remains sky-high as fans and citizens alike wait to see how the legal process unfolds.
