How Song Hye-kyo Copes with Bad Events: Think of Positive Side, Put Myself First
On January 16, a video featuring Song Hye-kyo was published on the YouTube channel of Davichi’s Kang Min-kyung.
In the video, Song Hye-kyo can be seen meeting with Kang Min-kyung at a restaurant, where they discussed various stories over food, soju, and beer.
Here, Song Hye-kyo mentioned how she overcame difficult times, saying, “There have been a lot of things that happened, and I always think only of the positive side,” and added, “I try to forget them quickly. If the events already happened, I simply think, ‘It’s already passed. ‘”
The actress then expressed her wish that nothing bad happens to anyone,” and added, “When I was young, my mom told me to just let things flow, and even if things got bad, she said that since it’s already happened, you can’t stop it.”
“It’s all a process, and as time goes by, there will be good days, so she tells me to just go with the flow,” the actress concluded.
According to Song Hye-kyo, there were also moments where her self-esteem really dropped, where she prioritize those around her and what they thought of her.
“However, that’s not the case anymore”, the actress stated, adding, “Now, I don’t care about anything else and I put myself first. I give more love, and because I give love, I receive love in return. Because I think of myself first, I’ve taken a wiser path.”
Meanwhile, previously on January 12, Song Hye-kyo appeared as a guest on the YouTube channel Fairy Jae-hyung.
Sporting a bold short haircut, Song Hye-kyo entered Jung Jae-hyung’s home. Amazed, he exclaimed, “Your face is so small! It’s been so long, and you’re still so beautiful.” Song Hye-kyo explained, “I cut my hair short for a new project. I’m still getting used to it.” Despite Jae-hyung’s praise, calling her “baby-like,” she humorously dismissed it, “There’s no way I look like a baby.”
Recently, Song Hye-kyo ventured into vlogging for the first time through Kang Min-kyung’s YouTube channel after her appearance on “You Quiz on the Block.” When asked about the change, she laughed and said, “I felt it’s something I should try now. At my age, I’m grateful for any interest people still show.”
Jae-hyung remarked, “If you were like a baby before, you seem so at ease now. When you came in earlier, you looked so comfortable it surprised me.” Song Hye-kyo replied, “I hear that a lot these days. People say I look relaxed. Over the years, I’ve had many experiences, both as a woman and an actress—happy ones, tough ones, and everything in between. I think I’ve learned a lot about life.”
Jae-hyung mentioned her recent work in “The Glory,” a departure from her usual genres. Song Hye-kyo admitted, “I had been doing similar roles and genres for a while. At some point, even I felt bored with my acting. If I was feeling that way, how much more boring and uninteresting must it have been for viewers? When news about ‘The Glory’ came out, I thought viewers wouldn’t have high expectations. But since it was a completely different character in a revenge drama, I think they were pleasantly surprised.”
Reflecting on her career, she added, “If I had diversified my roles earlier, people wouldn’t have thought, ‘Song Hye-kyo always does the same thing.’ But I kept doing similar projects, and that made it less engaging for me and for the viewers.”
Praising her “The Glory” co-stars and “Dark Nuns” actress Jeon Yeo-been, she said, “They’re so passionate and thoughtful. Sometimes I think, ‘Hye-kyo, why don’t you think as much as they do? You should put more thought into things.’ I’ve been fortunate to meet such amazing juniors who inspire and challenge me.”
Jung Jae-hyung commented, “Maybe all the hardships you endured in your 30s in China are finally paying off.” Song Hye-kyo laughed, “It’s about time I get my blessings. I think it’s finally my turn.”
Meanwhile, Song Hye-kyo married actor Song Joong-ki, her co-star in “Descendants of the Sun,” in 2017. However, they divorced by mutual agreement after about two years.
