Song Joong-ki Talks About Raising Kids, “Son Resembles Wife, Daughter Looks Like Me”
On January 10th, the KBS2 program “The Seasons-Lee Young-ji’s Rainbow” aired its new episode featuring Song Joong-ki, SEVENTEEN BooSeokSoon, GFRIEND and Kassy.
Actor Song Joong-ki decided to make his first appearance on a music program via “The Seasons”. He shared, “This recording studio is very familiar to me. I hosted ‘Music Bank’ for two years. I didn’t feel nervous back then but I’m very nervous right now”. The actor confessed, “My fans said they would sue me if I sing and dance somewhere. I came here with the determination to get sued”. Lee Young-ji tried to relax the tension, saying “No one here thinks Song Joong-ki can sing well”.
Song Joong-ki complimented Lee Young-ji, saying “You’re like Oprah Winfrey of Korea”. In response, Lee Young-ji said, “I’ve been admiring you ever since I was young. ‘A Werewolf Boy’ is my favorite movie. I wanted to marry you, but unfortunately, you’re already married”.
Regarding his experience of being “Music Bank” MC, Song Joong-ki said, “They were recruiting an MC and I auditioned for the position. I didn’t want to miss that chance”. Immediately, “The Seasons” showed a video of Song Joong-ki performing 4Minute’s “Hot Issue” in the past, making the actor feel extremely embarrassed and have to beg the staff to turn the video off. He shared, “I did wink a lot back then. I even greeted Seo Hyo-rim (who was his co-MC) with one leg raised. I was enjoying it so much, so that’s why I raised my leg up”, making Lee Young-ji laugh by reenacting the scene.
Lee Young-ji asked Song Joong-ki, who has become a father of one son and one daughter, “Do your children resemble their father or mother?”. Song Joong-ki responded, “My first child is 19 months old now. Our son’s face looks more like his mother’s, but our daughter resembles me. They are very pretty”.
When asked about the changes after becoming the head of a family, the actor said, “My mindset has changed a lot. I think I should do many good deeds since I have some influence in society. Being nice is a way to create a good world for my children”. Song Joong-ki emphasized that his YouTube algorithms had also changed, adding “If you have a baby, you will obviously know the thing called ‘Bbibbobbibbo 119’. The teachers will give you detailed guides. I also watched all the videos of Dr. Oh Eun-young’s program to learn parental skills”.
Lee Young-ji wondered, “If your child doesn’t listen and just does everything you want to do, just like me, what would you do?”, Song Joong-ki replied, “I don’t think Young-ji is that kind of a kid. I’m a novice father. I don’t know how to deal with it in detail, but I and my wife are discussing a lot to find out the best way to educate our children”.
Lee Young-ji then asked Song Joong-ki about his favorite songs, and the actor shared, “Listening to my favorite songs, my wife has also come to like ‘For Lovers Who Hesitate’ and Kwak Jin-eon’s ‘Boast’”. Lee Young-ji commented, “I asked you about your favorite songs but you only talked about your wife”.
After the talk, Song Joong-ki performed “My Mister” OST “My Self In My Heart” and Sung Si-kyung’s “Two People”.
