Actor Song Kang, currently serving in the South Korean military, recently made a surprise appearance in a new KFN video, and fans are buzzing over his striking transformation.
Released on July 9 via the YouTube channel ‘KFN’, the video titled “Song Kang’s Military Story: The Last Battle of the Korean Empire at Namdaemun” features the actor as a storyteller, recounting the tragic resistance of the Korean Empire’s army during its forced disbandment in 1907.
Wearing his uniform with a buzzcut, the 31-year-old now a Corporal looked more mature and rugged than ever. Once known for his delicate, youthful visuals, Song Kang now exudes a powerful masculine charm, leading fans to dub him “Captain Korea.”
The video is part of a military content series that blends history and narrative. Song Kang delivers a gripping account of the Namdaemun battle, the Korean army’s final act of resistance against Japanese occupation. His emotional storytelling and expressive tone added depth to the tragic story, drawing praise from viewers.
Song Kang enlisted on April 2, 2024, and is scheduled to be discharged on October 1, 2025. Despite his short hair, the actor’s sharp visuals have remained intact, proving, as fans joked, that “he’s immune to the ‘military hair curse’.”
Following his discharge, Song Kang is eyeing a return to the small screen with a new drama titled “Four Hands”. The drama, inspired by the piano duet technique where two players share one piano, follows youth at an arts high school navigating friendship, rivalry, love, and personal growth.
Reports suggest that Song Kang has been offered the role of a piano prodigy. His agency, Namoo Actors, confirmed, “It’s one of the projects he’s currently reviewing.”
