Former AV Star Sora Aoi Defends Other AV Actresses Amid Joo Haknyeon Prostitution Allegations

On June 24, Sora Aoi took to social media to post a concise yet powerful message in both Japanese and Korean, “AV actresses are not prostitutes.”
She further commented in Japanese, “What’s wrong is behaving in a way that could lead to the release of such suspicious photos,” indirectly addressing the controversy.

The remarks come as allegations swirl around Joo Haknyeon, who was recently ousted from THE BOYZ following reports of a private meeting with Asuka Kirara in May. Some Korean media claimed the encounter constituted paid sex, prompting a criminal complaint under the Prostitution Punishment Act.
Joo Haknyeon has denied the allegations, stating that while he did attend a drinking party with Kirara, no illegal activity took place. Asuka Kirara also issued a firm rebuttal, “I have never accepted money in exchange for sex in my entire life.”

The scandal has led to further legal fallout. Joo Haknyeon‘s agency, 1HUNDRED, terminated his contract and is reportedly seeking 2 billion KRW (~$1.47 million USD) in damages. In turn, Haknyeon has filed a lawsuit against both the agency and the media outlet that first broke the story, accusing them of defamation and spreading false information.
Sora Aoi’s comments have reignited debate about the stigma surrounding adult entertainers and how society conflates adult content with illegal activity. While the investigation continues, the controversy remains a hot topic across Korea and Japan.
