On May 23, a new episode of the YouTube channel “ZIP DAESUNG” featured I-DLE’s Miyeon and Soyeon, who recently made a comeback with their 8th mini album.
Miyeon and Soyeon introduced the title track “Good Thing” from the newly released mini album “We are“. Soyeon explained, “The concept is that I get a call saying my lover is cheating. So, I go straight to the scene to confront him—that’s the kind of character I’m portraying.“

When Daesung commented “But the song is called ‘Good Thing’“, Soyeon clarified, “It’s like saying, ‘Good for you, you XX’—that kind of vibe.” Daesung tried to tease her, saying, “I heard Soyeon always writes lyrics based on her personal experiences.” But Soyeon drew the line, replying, “Not this one.“
She emphasized, “There are lyrics I write based on my own experiences, especially in my raps. If the song’s theme is about me, I write it that way. But this time, it was like writing a movie or a drama. The first line is, ‘I got a 150 million watch on my wrist.’ It’s fake.“
Miyeon chimed in, “She doesn’t have one.” Soyeon added, “I had to borrow it because I don’t own a 150 million watch. I borrowed it just for the music video.“
Meanwhile, Soyeon previously made headlines in July 2024 on the web variety show “Chef Sso’s Country Kitchen Dream“, where she revealed, “At peak times, I earn up to 1 billion KRW (approx. 740,000 USD) a month in royalties. But there are also months when I make just 100,000 KRW (around 74 USD).”
Soyeon’s dedication to her craft and her willingness to invest in her art underscore her commitment to delivering compelling performances. Her transparency about the realities of the music industry offers fans a deeper understanding of the effort behind the scenes.
