On May 6, Stray Kids became the first K-pop group to be invited to the Met Gala, making history.
As representatives of Tommy Hilfiger, the boy group donned custom outfits from the brand, even making a show of taking off a group jack to unveil their real outfits underneath on the red carpet.
However, such historic appearance was ruined as fans caught reporters at the 2024 Met Gala making offensive comments about Stray Kids, particularly about “never seeing so many unemotional faces” in their lives and comparing the Stray Kids members to “robots”.
Additionally, a video also captured reporters giving Stray Kids directions that carry harmful stereotypes about K-pop groups, angering fans.
As a result, fans of Stray Kids are now calling the 2024 Met Gala reporters words like “despicable and revolting” as well as “racist”.
