Stray Kids, Jungkook and SEVENTEEN Face Mixed Fortunes at Billboard Music Awards “Nominated but Fell Short”

Held on Dec 13th (KST), the 2024 Billboard Music Awards was attended by numerous global artists and K-pop idols.
Stray Kids took the stage as performers, delivering high-energy performances of “Chk Chk Boom” and “JJAM”. They were nominated in the Top Duo/Group category, competing against global acts like Blink-182, Coldplay and Linkin Park. However, the award went to Mexican band Fuerza Regida.

BTS’s Jungkook set a record as the K-pop artist with the most nominations at this year’s ceremony. He was nominated in five categories: Top Song Sales Artist, Top Selling Song, Top Global K-pop Artist, Top K-pop Album and Top Global K-pop Song.
However, the Top Song Sales Artist award went to country music singer and rapper Shaboozey.
In contrast, SEVENTEEN claimed victory in the Top K-Pop Touring Artist category. During their acceptance speech, SEVENTEEN stated, “We will continue to deliver energy and happiness to our fans through great music and performances.” The group also performed their new song “Love, Money, Fame” at the event.
This marks the second year since the addition of K-pop-specific categories at the Billboard Music Awards, including Top Global K-pop Artist, Top K-Pop Touring Artist, Top K-pop Album and Top Global K-pop Song. While Korean artists such as Stray Kids and SEVENTEEN showcased K-pop’s global appeal with electrifying performances, they faced tough competition in the major award categories.
