BIGBANG’s Taeyang Fully Embraces Dad Life: “I’m Dedicated to School Drop-Offs and Pick-Ups”
On the May 9 episode of YouTube variety series ZIP Daesung (Episode 56), Daesung welcomed Dynamic Duo’s Gaeko and Choiza, along with singer Gummy, for a relaxed and heartfelt conversation titled “Sorry, Mom… | Touching Moments with K-pop Veterans.”
As the group discussed marriage and parenthood, Daesung jokingly noted, “Actually, today’s special episode isn’t Gummy X Dynamic Duo. It’s a marriage promotion special. A lot of people really encourage marriage.” That’s when he brought up his longtime friend and fellow BIGBANG member, Taeyang.
Gaeko added, “Taeyang is pretty famous for that. People say he’s super dedicated to taking his kid to and from school.” Daesung confirmed, “That’s true.”
The brief moment gave fans a rare look into Taeyang’s personal life, showing how he has shifted focus to family responsibilities, especially with his five-year-old son. While Taeyang has always been known for his strong work ethic and devotion to music, it seems he’s now applying that same dedication to parenting.
The episode also featured Choiza, who married a non-celebrity in July 2023 and recently became a father. He candidly shared his experience: “Honestly, being married is really nice. Once you have a child, it feels like a whole new world.”
He added, “Letting go of things becomes natural. But once you have a child, it’s a much bigger sacrifice and you just do it.” He recounted a recent parenting sacrifice, saying with a laugh, “My room used to be the biggest in the house—I put so much into it, installing a projector to watch movies alone and play games, but now it’s all changed [for my kid].”
While fans may be eager for more music from Taeyang, many are touched to see this softer, more grounded side of the K-pop legend. From dazzling stages to preschool drop-offs, Taeyang’s transformation into a hands-on father only adds to his appeal.
