On June 16, THE BOYZ’s agency One Hundred announced that member Joo Hak-nyeon would temporarily suspend his activities due to personal reasons. The sudden news sparked speculation among fans.
Two days later, reports revealed that Joo Hak-nyeon had privately met former Japanese AV actress Asuka Kirara at a bar in Roppongi, Tokyo, on May 29. He was reportedly seen hugging her and sharing close physical contact, leading to intense public backlash.

On June 18, One Hundred officially announced Joo Hak-nyeon’s departure from THE BOYZ and the termination of his contract. The agency explained that upon learning of the issue, they immediately suspended his activities to verify the facts. After careful assessment and discussions with the group’s members, they decided that maintaining him as an artist was no longer possible due to the seriousness of the matter.

The agency expressed regret to fans, explaining that the decision was made to protect the group and its remaining members. Meanwhile, public reaction has been harsh, with comments like, “Why are all the members like this? Not one of them seems to care about the fans,” “This group really is legendary in the worst way,” and “You really went and fulfilled your dream, huh,” as THE BOYZ faces mounting backlash amid a series of controversies involving multiple members.
Joo Hak-nyeon, who debuted with THE BOYZ in 2017 and gained early attention through Produce 101 Season 2, will no longer be part of the group. THE BOYZ will continue as a 10-member team during Sangyeon’s military absence.
