According to interviews Kim Sae-ron gave during her lifetime, she was raised in a struggling single-parent household, and endured immense hardships from a young age. Her mother, once a top student at Seoul National University, faced financial difficulties after an unplanned pregnancy, leading to depression and a suicide attempt with her children.
At that time, Kim Sae Ron was extremely terrified, clinging tightly to the railing and refusing to let go, crying and begging her mother to save her.
