“The Worst Thing I Did in 2024” IU Offers a 90-Degree Apology to Junior Girl Group IVE
On Jan 20th, IU’s YouTube channel “IU Official” uploaded a video featuring IVE. In the video, IU and IVE revealed that although they frequent the same salon, it was their first time formally greeting and conversing with each other.
IU shared a behind-the-scenes story, explaining that she had planned to invite IVE to her show “Palette” much earlier. However, due to health issues, she had to postpone the recording, for which she expressed a deep apology while bowing 90 degrees. Surprised, IVE’s members responded, “It’s okay.”
IU explained the situation, “It was the recording day. When I woke up, I felt something was wrong. I had a high fever. I had to go to see a doctor that day. So, I canceled the recording. It was the first time such a thing happened during a ‘Palette’ shoot.” She also shared that she repeatedly apologized through the salon staff.
IU mentioned that she even apologized directly to Liz when they bumped into each other in an elevator, admitting, “It was the worst thing I did in 2024.” IVE’s members consoled her, “We just hoped you’d recover quickly.” IU added, “Hearing that made me even sadder.”
IVE and IU also talked about their world tour experiences.
Jang Won-young recalled her excitement, “I was happy when I saw IU’s concert poster.” IU expressed regret about not being able to invite IVE as guests due to overlapping schedules. They lamented their conflicting schedules, which continued to prevent further collaborations.
IU expressed her desire to invite IVE as guests to her concert, adding, “The ‘I’ family should support each other.”
IVE responded enthusiastically, “We’d be happy to help anytime!” IU praised IVE’s stage performances, noting, “Your relaxed and confident stage presence is impressive. It really feels like you’re enjoying the performances.”
IU also asked IVE about their hobbies. Jang Won-young shared, “I enjoy going to saunas and spas. However, I feel like a hobby should be something more playful, so I haven’t fully embraced one yet.”
Instead, she mentioned her love for food, adding, “Recently, I’ve been enjoying xiaolongbao.”
In the “color switch” segment, where they performed each other’s songs, IU sang IVE’s “ELEVEN” while IVE performed IU’s “Holssi”.
IU concluded the conversation by expressing her gratitude, “Thank you, IVE, for taking the time to join me on ‘Palette’ despite your busy schedules.”
