Third-Generation Male Idol Sentenced To Probation After Comitting Sex Crimes Three Times

On May 21st, the Seoul High Court sentenced Himchan to three years in prison and five years of probation on charges of violating the Sexual Violence Punishment Act., which was the same as the first trial’s sentence.

The court also maintained the same orders for Himchan, including probation, 40 hours of lectures on sexual violence treatment, and restrictions on employment institutions and organizations for children, adolescents, and disabled people for three years.

The court rejected the appeals from both Himchan’s side and the prosecution against the sentence, emphasizing that the original ruling 

Earlier in 2018, Himchan was imprisoned for 10 months and had to complete 40 hours of sexual violence treatment program for his crime of forcibly harassing a woman in her 20s at a pension in Namyangju, Gyeonggi-do. In April 2022, he was indicted again on the same charge and the victim was a woman at a bar in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul.

During the second trial, Himchan was put on trial again after a woman in Eunpyeong-gu, Seoul accused him of sexually assaulting her in May of the same year as well as illegally filming and distributing her photos in June.

Himchan already completed his first sentence for forced harassment on December 8th last year but got arrested again for additional sexual assault charges. He admitted to the charges in the second case and appealed for leniency by paying 10 million won to each victim.
