Full Apology from Riwon

Hello, this is Kim Riwon, a contestant on ToGetHer.

First, I sincerely and deeply apologize to my fellow contestants, the production team, everyone around me who supported me, and all the viewers who have watched the show, for causing concern and discomfort.

Before causing any further harm, I would like to personally share the facts and offer my apology.

I have conducted private content broadcasts for approximately three years: for about two years starting from 2016, for about four months from November 2021 to March 2022, and for about seven months from February to September 2024.

During that time, I also participated in six meal dates, but every meeting was a clean and proper dining engagement with no physical contact. To prove this, I ensured that I broadcasted and recorded on each of those days.

However, regardless of my personal circumstances, I sincerely apologize for appearing on the program without disclosing this past to the production team due to my selfishness and for disappointing and hurting many people.

Additionally, I would like to clarify my sexual orientation. I am a woman who loves women.

I first became aware of my sexual orientation in middle school, and my first relationship was a serious one with a woman that lasted for two years and six months.

Later, due to a desire to deny myself, I dated both women and men.

Until June 2024, I was in a long-term relationship with a woman, and afterward, out of continued self-denial, I briefly dated a man in August.

Initially, this man helped me by assisting in cleaning up my old broadcast footage, but whenever I tried to end the relationship, he threatened to out me to my acquaintances and family and subjected me to violence, confinement, hacking, and even death threats. In a situation where it was difficult to break free, I desperately wanted to come out on my own terms rather than being outed by someone else, and that is why I decided to apply for the program.

After the initial meetings related to the show, I did meet with him again for about two weeks, but from this year onward, there has been absolutely no further contact.

I have hired a lawyer and am currently preparing legal action.

It is true, without excuse, that I was involved in inappropriate broadcasts in the past and that I met a man before the filming. However, I now have a different occupation, and I believed that the traces of my past broadcasting activities had been cleared. It was with a selfish desire to finally fully acknowledge my identity as a lesbian that I decided to appear on the program.

As a result, I caused harm to the program and deeply hurt the precious contestants and production staff, for which I am sincerely and deeply sorry.

The contestants and the production team had no knowledge of my past and are also victims.

I am truly sorry for damaging the meaning of Korea’s first lesbian dating program because of my actions. It breaks my heart that my actions may cause further harmful stereotypes about the LGBTQ+ community.

All of these issues stem solely from my selfishness and my inappropriate past. All the members of the LGBTQ+ community, the people related to the program, and the viewers — they are all victims. The entire responsibility lies with me alone.

Once again, I deeply apologize to everyone who has been hurt because of me. I am truly sorry.

“ToGetHer” releases new episodes every Friday at 11 AM KST exclusively on Wavve.
