Netflix’s annual TUDUM event made a thrilling return on May 31, delivering a flurry of exciting updates about its most prominent series. The two-hour livestream had fans buzzing, especially with the release of trailers for fan-favorite franchises like Squid Game and Stranger Things—both heading into their final seasons this year as well as a sneak peek at the adorable character Tony Tony Chopper in the upcoming One Piece season.

The spotlight of this year’s TUDUM was undeniably Squid Game Season 3, which will mark the grand finale of the globally acclaimed series. Just six months after Season 2 aired, Season 3 is set to premiere on June 27, promising even deadlier and more nerve-racking games.

This season continues the story of protagonist Gi-hun, still haunted by the death of his close friend Jung-bae. Alongside other survivors from the Season 2 uprising, Gi-hun is forced to participate in new challenges, teased in the trailer like jump rope (possibly a twist on Red Light, Green Light), tug-of-war, and navigating a labyrinth.

A striking moment previewed is a confrontation between Gi-hun and In-ho—the Squid Game operator (Front Man) and former player 001. Notably, Gi-hun dons the final match outfit reminiscent of Season 1, hinting he may again emerge victorious while suffering more personal losses.

The biggest question for fans remains: will Gi-hun succeed in dismantling the Squid Game once and for all, or will he ally with In-ho and become the next Front Man, accepting that cruelty is an immutable truth of humanity? “You either die a hero or live long enough to become the villain.” a quote that encapsulates the emotional core of this final season.

Another giant series also ending in 2025 is Stranger Things. Its final season will debut in two parts: episodes 1–4 will be released on November 26, while episodes 5–7 will drop during Christmas, with the series finale airing on the last day of the year.

Meanwhile, the government locks down the town and targets Eleven, forcing her into hiding again. As the anniversary of Will’s disappearance nears, a familiar sense of dread returns. A final battle looms, and a more powerful darkness awakens. To end this nightmare, they must gather every ally they have—one last stand.”

One Piece also drew attention at TUDUM. Season 2 of the live-action adaptation of the best-selling manga returns in 2026. Lead actor Iñaki Godoy teased that the Straw Hat crew will “expand a bit,” introducing new allies and enemies.

A highlight is the reveal of Tony Tony Chopper, the lovable reindeer, described by Godoy as “a friend everyone wants.” Netflix unveiled a dedicated teaser video for Chopper, showcasing a CGI design and voiced by Mikaela Hoover.

On the film front, Netflix will resurrect the classic monster Frankenstein in a new version directed by Oscar-winner Guillermo del Toro. The trailer suggests the adaptation stays close to the original novel while embracing del Toro’s signature gothic horror style.
