On April 16, British rock legends Coldplay kicked off their “Music Of The Spheres World Tour” in South Korea with the first of six massive shows in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province. The event made headlines not only for the iconic band but also for their special guest performers: TWICE (alongside BTS’s Jin).

However, after the opening night, a photo allegedly showing empty seats at Goyang Stadium began circulating online, triggering controversy. Some users claimed this was a sign that TWICE’s popularity is fading, as even the presence of the full 9-member group didn’t fill the venue.

Fortunately, the majority of netizens and fans quickly debunked the photo’s context, clarifying that it was taken before the concert officially began, when many audience members had not arrived at the venue. Additionally, fans who attended the event reported that the venue was completely packed by the time TWICE performed.
In fact, all six nights of Coldplay’s concerts were already sold out, with each show set to host over 40,000 attendees. The viral photo, critics argue, is misleading and likely shared by anti-fans attempting to undermine TWICE’s image.

Besides, as TWICE was a guest act and not the major performer, the girl group does not bear the responsibility of filling up Coldplay’s concert. The British band, with nearly 30 years of legacy and global fame, has long proven its ability to sell out shows worldwide—with or without a K-pop guest appearance.
Despite facing natural career slowdowns after their peak, TWICE remains a top-tier 3rd gen girl group, consistently selling out their own world tour stops across continents. Claims that they can’t draw crowds are baseless and exaggerated.
Notably, at the concert, TWICE delivered an impressive 40-minute set of 11 songs, including hits like “Cheer Up“, “TT“, and “Fancy“,etc driving the crowd wild. The girl group also performed a collaborative stage with Coldplay for the song “We Pray”, which will be officially recorded and released in the near future.
