On January 21, YG Entertainment – the agency of AKMU’s Lee Chan-hyuk, told media outlet Newsen regarding the breakup rumors that broke out that day, “We cannot confirm his private life.”
According to entertainment insiders earlier on the same day, Lee Chan-hyuk and Lee Sae-rom dated for about a year before breaking up last year.
The two were embroiled in dating rumors in October 2022. Speculation arose due to sightings of the pair on dates at a craft workroom and photos posted on their social media accounts that appeared to be taken at the same location.
At the time, Lee Chan-hyuk’s agency YG Entertainment stated, “It is difficult to confirm as it pertains to the artist’s private life.” Meanwhile, Lee Sae-rom’s former agency Pledis Entertainment remained silent on the matter. Their lack of response was widely interpreted as tacit acknowledgment of the relationship.
According to close sources, the two continued to date even after the rumors surfaced but decided to part ways last year. Since they never officially acknowledged their relationship, it is unlikely that either party will comment on the breakup.

Lee Chan-hyuk first gained public attention when he appeared on SBS’s “K-pop Star 2” in 2012 as part of the sibling duo AKMU with his younger sister Lee Su-hyun. After officially debuting in the music industry in 2014, the duo has released numerous hit songs. In 2022, Lee Chan-hyuk showcased his individual artistry by releasing his first solo album “ERROR”.
Lee Sae-rom debuted as a member of fromis_9 in 2017 after being selected through Mnet’s “Idol School”. She was actively involved in the music scene until the group’s exclusive contracts with Pledis Entertainment expired in December 2024, after which she left the agency.
